Summer Updates and Enhancements to the Fit4Work Activity Program

I hope you are doing well and in full on summer mode! I appreciate the time away from work to recharge, have a different routine and travel...one of my favorite things to do! Whether you're an experienced therapist or just starting your career, staying updated with the latest resources is essential for delivering exceptional care. Use these tools to support your practice in the coming school year!

  • Resource for New School-Based Therapists: Attention, new school-based therapists or if you've just hired a school based PT! Working in schools is both exciting and challenging. To support your journey, I've curated a resource guide specifically tailored to your needs that addresses general school based physical therapy practice. This guide compiles key resources that are invaluable in your daily practice, including resources, documents, and educational materials.

Fit4Work Activity Program Website: Streamlined and User-Friendly: I've significantly updated the Fit4Work Activity Program website to make it even more accessible and user-friendly. The website, has been reorganized and redesigned so it will be easier for you (and teachers!) to use! Navigating through the activities, instructions, and modifications is now easier than ever, enabling you to find the resources you need quickly. Here is a graphic you can share with others who you'd like to use the resources.

  • Coming Soon: I am excited to announce the upcoming launch of a new program called Body and Brain Breaks, designed to support mental health for youth with disabilities by reducing stress, enhancing focus, and regulating emotions. This evidence-based program recognizes the vital connection between physical activity and emotional well-being. Dosing seems to be key here! I am collaborating with students at The George Washington University and a new PT colleague/friend to create the just right amount of activity to impact mental health. This valuable program will be available starting July, so that you can use to implement with your school teams. Stay tuned for more updates and be ready to elevate your practice with this innovative approach that will support physical and mental health support.

Wishing you a joyful and productive summer filled because we will be back in schools before we know it!

Yours in health,

Connie
