Supporting the health of youth with disabilities is especially challenging right now. If we want to support the health and fitness that youth need to engage in work we need to do everything we can to ensure they get the dosing of exercise that they need for health. If all youth could achieve the "Medium" level of work category they would have far more job opportunities than they would have if they were in the "Sedentary" or "Light" categories. Minute to Win It was created in collaboration with Dr. Amanda Iannotti, at the start of the Pandemic. This concept helps youth hit intensity exercise minutes in quick bursts, which is easy to put into place over the course of the school day.
In my last two educational offerings, I have shared the importance of the Social Security categories, how to screen with them in mind and how strength training programs can support them. I have one final product to support this offering that will help you use Minute to Win It to promote the Physical Activity Guidelines, especially in this time of remote and in person learning. Created in collaboration with Eva Jaber and EnRichEdVA.com, you can use this free product with the students that you work with to support movement breaks and physical activity in classrooms.
Let's help everyone be Fit4Work!
