2022 seemed like such a whirlwind, and I am taking my normal reflection time that I use to recalibrate...I've always been a big doier, but I dont do anything without reflection and contemplation...or at least I used to say that...in the last year I did way more than I planned on and it kind of got the better of me! But I am here recalibrating and looking forward to 2023!
A few offerings: I am working with Carlo Vialu at Apply EBP for asynchronous courses and when asked to join his online symposium. These are really cost effective CEUs for you, and much easier for me to work with a provider to do that. I've got two so far and hoping you find them useful!
Using the Fit4Work Screen, this course describes why we do it and how we do it. I highly recommend we use this tool when working with entire classes and also in the context of our individual evaluations.
The youth we work with are chronically underdosed for physical activity and suffer because of it: both in terms of work opportunities and their long term health. Working in schools and community settings, we need to be ICF participation focused and in this training we dive into how to link strength to function and then fun ways to incorporate these programs.
Lastly, I've retooled my free "case" in a simpler format. The case cited is a very simple one that highlights how to apply this information. Please share this with colleagues new to Fit4Work or if you need to refamiliarize yourself with how and what we do!
Deviating from Fit4Work, I have been writing book reviews for the School SIG (APTA Pediatric Member newsletter) and creating a new and innovative journal club format for Practice Committee. See APTA Pediatrics social media for these and if you have any interest in learning about them message me directly!
Wishing you a healthy new year and hope these ideas help you and your students to be Fit4Work!
Yours in health so we can all be Fit4Work,
Connie Johnson
