Three things you need to perform Fit4Work Work Capacity Evaluations for Youth with Disabilities

How do we, as physical therapists, evaluate students with disability in the Fit4Work framework? There are 2 documents to help you in the physical therapy evaluation process:  Fit4Work infographic and PT evaluation template.  I wont bore you with long details about how to do a PT evaluation, because I know you know that.  I am not going to explain Guide 3.0 because you can get that at apta.org.

But I am going to give you three things:

    1. Ask you to widen the scope of your practice to consider evaluation and examination of youth with disabilities in a work capacity context.

    2. Give you the nuts and bolts of what you should look at, a framework and list of potential measuring tools that will help you to quantify your examination data.

    3. Tables that have been useful  to share the information. The headers on some of the tables might seem a little weird, but the frequency numbers are derived form the Physical Demands Subcommittee of SSA, the original report can be found here

These documents will help you to evaluate the human movement system in the context of vocational task performance. Let me know how these work out for you!
